Solar energy project to use Eaton distribution system

Eaton Corp. (NYSE: ETN) signed an $8.1 million contract to provide electrical power distribution system equipment for Abengoa Solar's 280 MW Solana Generating Station in Arizona.


Eaton's electrical Sector will supply an electrical power distribution assemblies for the project as well as engineering and consulting services.


The plant will use concentrating solar power (CSP) technology and storage. Arizona Public Service signed a power purchase agreement for the output from the plant.


Solana is expected to begin operations in 2013.
