JA Solar appoints former Best Solar exec as CEO

JA Solar Holdings Co., a maker of solar power products, said Monday it has appointed Peng Fang as CEO, effective immediately.


Most recently, Fang was president of Best Solar Co. He was previously president of Shanghai Huahong NEC Electronics Co. He also has worked at semiconductor companies Applied Materials Inc. and Advanced Micro Devices Inc. Fang holds a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota.


Baofang Jin, who has been CEO since August 2009, according to the company's Web site, will remain as executive chairman.


Shares of JA Solar, based in Shanghai, fell 5 cents to $4.86 in after-hours trading Monday after closing the regular session up 7.4 percent to $4.91.
