Trinasolar presents tandem module with 808 watts

The Chinese solar group Trina Solar Co. Ltd. has developed a perovskite silicon tandem module with an output of over 800 watts. The 3.1 square metre module consists of 210 x 105 millimetre half cells and achieves a peak output of 808 watts certified by TÜV SÜD.
‘This is a monumental breakthrough for perovskite/silicon tandem solar modules and an important milestone in PV technology,’ says Gao Jifan, President and CEO of Trinasolar. The module is a significant step towards the industrialisation of tandem modules’.

Trinasolar says it invests heavily in research and development and has been active in perovskite tandem cell technology for more than ten years. In co-operation with universities such as Nanjing University, Jiangsu Province and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the company has led numerous national research projects in this field, the company reports. According to Trinasolar, it has registered 331 patents in connection with tandem technology.
