Tongwei Solar Sets a New Record with THC-G12 HJT Module, Reaching 790.8W

On March 20, Tongwei Solar’s Photovoltaic Technology Center announced that its THC-G12 Heterojunction (HJT) module has achieved a maximum power output of 790.8W under the standard module size of 2384*1303mm, as certified by the internationally recognized testing organization TÜV. The module’s full-area efficiency reached 25.46%, setting a new record for crystalline silicon module efficiency in third-party testing.

Relentless Pursuit of Excellence Breaks New Records

The Tongwei Solar R&D team, driven by a spirit of dedication and innovation, achieved this breakthrough in just one month after setting the previous record of 783.2W on February 21. This accomplishment results from further integration and innovation in cell and module technologies. On the cell front, advancements such as backside passivation, edge optimization, and fine-line processing significantly enhanced cell efficiency. On the module side, Tongwei applied its proprietary 908 busbar-free interconnection technology, ultra-high flux light utilization, and ultra-low loss wire transmission technologies. These combined advancements pushed the THC-G12 HJT module’s efficiency to an unprecedented 25.46%.

This marks the 11th time Tongwei’s HJT module has broken a power output record since 2023, and the third breakthrough since the launch of Tongwei’s Global Innovation and R&D Center in June 2024.

Strategic Vision Builds Core Competitiveness

As a leader in heterojunction technology, Tongwei began its R&D journey in HJT as early as 2018. It established the country’s first gigawatt-scale HJT production line and initiated the industry’s first G12 half-cell HJT project. Tongwei also pioneered the development of the industry’s first bifacial microcrystalline pilot line.

Additionally, Tongwei has achieved industry-leading results in copper interconnection technology, introducing a comprehensive gigawatt-level copper interconnection solution. Its core HJT competitive advantages are built upon three pillars: bifacial microcrystalline technology, copper interconnection with silver-free metallization, and 908 module technology. These innovations will further advance the development and industrialization of HJT technology.

Driving the Future of Solar Innovation

As Tongwei’s technological powerhouse, the Global Innovation and R&D Center is dedicated to the research and development of next-generation solar cell and module technologies, including TOPCon, HJT, Back Contact (BC), and perovskite/crystalline silicon tandem cells. With a robust research platform and strong innovation capabilities, Tongwei remains committed to pushing the boundaries of photovoltaic technology.

Looking ahead, Tongwei will continue leveraging its R&D strength, championing innovation, and exploring new frontiers in the solar industry. The company is devoted to contributing to the industry’s sustainable growth and shaping a greener future for the world.
