EDP Renewables’ distributed generation subsidiary completed a 1.2-MW solar + storage project that will serve an affordable housing development in Westchester County, New York.
The project is sited on a rooftop and coupled with a 1-MW battery. It is the 14th community solar project EDPR developed in New York, and PowerMarket will provide customer acquisition and management services on the array.

EDPR developed the project with PowerMarket and Catholic Charities Progress of Peoples Development (CCPOPD) to fulfill Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens’ mission to alleviate energy poverty in Brooklyn and Queens, and beyond.

The project, coupled with the upcoming completion of a neighboring community solar project, will allow CCPOPD to pass on approximately $1 million in savings to its LMI buildings and households over the course of 20 years.
The community solar + storage project contributes to the state’s goal to deploy 10 GW of distributed solar generation capacity by 2030.
