Culver touts renewable energy plans

Governor Culver is touting his proposed $100 million Iowa Power Fund today.

Culver will be Cedar Rapids this morning and Ankeny this afternoon to give specific details about the fund, which is aimed at boosting Iowa's renewable energy industry.

It would create financial incentives for companies to develop and commercialize new energy products within the state. It would also establish a new office of renewable energy.

Culver has asked the Legislature to approve $25 million this year, then increase the fund to $100 million over four years.
