Azerbaijan implementing new project on environmental

New project in the field of environmental protection is being implemented in Azerbaijan.

Work undertaken by the Azerbaijani youth through this project, that is, the environmental protection is very important, head of the UNICEF office in Azerbaijan Mark Hereward said at the event.

"This project will provide youth homes with an opportunity to implement new projects on environmental protection and increase knowledge of young people about environmental protection," said Hereward.

The EU already cooperates with Azerbaijan in the environmental protection, head of the EU Delegation in Azerbaijan Roland Kobia said.

"Azerbaijan takes part in the six regional projects on the environment. But this project, which will be useful for the whole country will become a new stage of cooperation between the EU and Azerbaijan," said Kobia.

Azerbaijan has broad potential in the field of environmental protection, he said.

This program is important for Azerbaijan, MP Hadi Rajabli said in his speech.

This project will increase the role of youth in the environmental protection and open a new page in the activities in this direction, he said.

Young people and the environment are interconnected, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Intigam Babayev said.

"Constant education of youth on the environment and its involvement in the implementation of such projects are important. Today projects related to environmental protection are being implemented in Azerbaijan, and such work will continue," Babayev said.

Under the project the EU, UNICEF and the National Council of Youth Organizations (NAYORA) combined their efforts to inform young people on aspects relating to the environment, strengthening its participation in the protection and management of natural resources.

The project will be implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources and local governments in the five districts of Azerbaijan: Lenkaran, Sabirabad, Yevlakh, Goranboy and Goy-Gol.
