Wind energy project closes on financing

SP Amherst Wind Power LP, a partnership between units of Sprott Power Corp. and Firelight Infrastructure Partners LP, closed on C$45million ($45.7 million) in financing for the 31.5 MW Amherst wind project in Nova Scotia.

The partnership closed on non-recourse, construction and take-out debt financing arranged by Stonebridge Financial Corp. with funding provided by the Great-West Life Assurance Co. and Ontario Pension Board.

The wind farm will use 15 Suzlon S97-2.1 MW turbines, which are designed for low- to medium-speed machines.

Construction on the Amherst Project began in May 2011 and is expected to be completed in 2012.
