Wind energy project books $102mn Google investment

Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) is investing $102 million into the 168 MW Alta V wind farm in California.

The deal follows a $55 million investment the company made in the 102 MW Alta IV wind project. Citibank is a co-investor in both projects. The entire project, called the Alta Wind Energy Center, is expected to have a nameplate generating capacity of 1,550 MW.

Southern California Edison (NYSE: SCE) signed a long-term power purchase agreement for power generated from the project.
