Wind energy expansion project completed

Siemens Energy Inc. (NYSE: SI), Mortenson Construction, and MidAmerican Energy Co. completed a 29.9 MW expansion of MidAmerican Energy's wind project near Pomeroy, Iowa.


Mortenson Construction erected the 13 SWT-2.3-101 Siemens wind turbines as well as access roads, underground electrical collection systems and internal tower wiring. The project is one of three that MidAmerican has underway in Iowa. The other two are the Rolling Hills and Laurel projects. All totaled, the three projects are expected to use 258 Siemens turbines and provide 593.4 MW of capacity by the end of 2011.


Siemens is also providing operation, maintenance and warranty service for the project.
