Solar energy plant to use Alstom turbine

Alstom will supply a 125 MW steam turbine and a generator for a thermal solar plant in Nevada that will be owned by Cobra Thermosolar Plants Inc.

The turbine is expected to be delivered in September 2012 and the plant is scheduled for commissioning by the end of 2013.

Solar thermal electric energy generation concentrates light from the sun to create heat. The concentrated heat is then used to produce steam which will power the turbines of a conventional power plant. Electricity generated from the plant will be sold to NV Energy under a power purchase agreement.
