Mozambique impressed with Indian renewable energy program

Mr Zeferino Alexandre Martins minister of education of the Republic of Mozambique called on minister of new and renewable energy Dr Farooq Abdullah in New Delhi.


Dr Abdullah explained to him the initiatives taken by India in the field of renewable energy.


Referring to the decisions taken at the recently concluded India Africa Forum Summit held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Dr Abdullah said that a number of new projects in the field of renewable energy will be taken up in the African countries which include installation of biomass gasifier systems, solar charging stations and electrification of large number of houses in rural Africa.


He expressed the hope that Mozambique will benefit from these new initiatives.


Dr. Abdullah added that over 250 training programs in the area of solar energy, biomass, wind energy and small hydro power will also be conducted which will help in development and deployment of renewable energy systems in the region.


Earlier, Mr Zeferino Alexandre Martins visited the Solar Energy Centre of the ministry of new and renewable energy at Gurgaon. He expressed keen interest in the research projects at the centre particularly those related to solar cooling. He thanked India for its assistance and hoped that cooperation between the two countries in the field of Renewable Energy will increase in future.
