Huaneng starts construction of 10-mw Qinghai solar power station

Huaneng Power International, Inc. has started construction of a 10-megawatt solar power station in Golmud in Qinghai province, northwest China.


This is the first project based on the strategic energy cooperation framework agreement between the China Huaneng Group, the parent company of Huaneng Power International and Qinghai province.


The solar power station involves a total investment of 200 million yuan by Huaneng Power International with designed installed capacity of 10 megawatt.
The first phase project will install 5 megawatt of solar power generation system.


Upon the completion in the end of 2010, the project is expected to generate 16.75 million kWh on-grid electricity and the annual operational hours is estimated at 1,623 hours.


Compared with thermal power projects, the solar power project of Huaneng Power will save 5,400 tonnes of standard coal each year, and reduce emission of 16,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide, 62 tonnes of carbon monoxide, and 60 tonnes of sulfur dioxide.
