Renova secures first solar power project in PH

The 85 MW solar facility is being jointly developed with local energy partners.

Japan’s Renova Inc. has secured its first solar project in the Philippines, an 85 megawatt facility being developed in the country’s Visayas Region.

In a statement, Renova said the fixed-price 20-year contract is part of Manila’s fourth round for the Green Energy Auction Program.

“This project is a crucial step toward the achievement of RENOVA’s goal of 5.0 GW of installed capacity by 2030 (including 1.8 GW*5 from overseas projects), as set out in Medium-Term Management Plan 2030,” the company said.

The project is being jointly developed with Victorias Green Energy Corp., a local renewable energy company.
