Egypt, China’s Sungrow Group discuss energy storage investment

Chairman of China’s Sungrow Group, Cao Renxian, outlined the company’s expertise in producing components for power plants and manufacturing energy storage batteries during his meeting with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. He affirmed the group’s readiness to cooperate with Egypt in localizing the energy storage battery industry, leveraging the country’s advanced infrastructure.

According to a Presidential statement, the discussions included a project to establish a factory in Egypt with an annual production capacity of up to 10 gigawatts of energy storage batteries. The project would support Egypt’s strategy to localize industries linked to new and renewable energy.

Renxian emphasized that Sungrow views Egypt as a strategic partner in developing this vital sector, citing its geographic position and ability to access both regional and international markets.

The meeting also explored opportunities for tripartite cooperation between Egypt, Norway’s Scatec, and China’s Sungrow Group. Both companies commended the Egyptian government’s efforts to create an attractive investment climate and remove barriers, in line with Egypt’s vision to establish itself as a regional hub for green energy manufacturing and exports.

President El-Sisi highlighted the importance of maximizing cooperation with both companies, reiterating Egypt’s commitment to localizing energy-related industries. He underlined the government’s support for ensuring high-quality project implementation that adds value to the economy and reinforces sustainable growth strategies.
