BLM planning meetings on solar projects near Primm

Federal land managers are planning a series of public meetings about a proposal to build two solar energy generating stations near the Nevada-California state line.
The Bureau of Land Management says the proposed NextLight Renewable Power LLC projects would cover more than 12 square miles of public lands east of Primm and would produce approximately 400 megawatts of electricity.

In addition to solar panels, the project would require new access roads, an overhead transmission line, substations, and other facilities.

Public meetings on the Silver State South and Silver State North solar projects are scheduled Wednesday at the Primm Valley Casino in Primm; Thursday at the M Resort and Spa in Henderson; and Aug. 18 at the Gold Strike hotel-casino in Jean.
