UK and US collaborate on floating wind

The UK and US will collaborate on floating wind under a new agreement to be finalised during this week's Clean Energy Ministerial in London.

UK Energy Secretary Edward Davey says: "The UK and US are both making funding available for this technology and we're determined to work together to capitalise on this shared interested."

The use of floating wind turbines could open up more areas to offshore wind as they can operate in deeper water than turbines dependent on fixed foundations.

The Clean Energy Ministerial is bringing together 23 energy ministers from leading economies to accelerate clean energy deployment. It is co-chaired by UK Energy Secretary Edward Davey and US Energy Secretary Steven Chu.
