Suzlon's S95 wind turbine delivers 102%

Suzlon has completed testing and certification of its S95 Standard Temperature Version (STV) 2.1 MW wind turbine in its 50 Hz and 60 Hz variants, achieving 102% of its estimated power curve.

In the testing and validation phase, Suzlon says the S95 delivered 102% of its estimated power curve – an increase in energy yield of over 3 GWh over the wind turbine's lifetime.

The S95 wind turbine has a rotor diameter of 95 m and tower heights of 80, 90 and 100 m, and is designed for medium wind speed sites – or class II sites. It has been certified by Germanischer Lloyd (GL).

John O'Halloran, President, Technology, Suzlon Energy, says: "This is a phenomenal achievement; it is incredibly rare that a complex product like a wind turbine – with over 2000 parts and weighing over 250 tonnes – generates more power than was even projected. This increase is mainly attributed to our new smart aerodynamic technology and efficient control systems. We are pleased to report that the S9X suite is consistently delivering 97% plus uptime on all installations, over a period of more than 10 months now."
