Suntech to introduce 255-Watt polycrystalline module

Suntech Power Holdings, a producer of solar panels, will introduce a new 60-cell, 255-watt polycrystalline module (STP255-20Wd), which utilises optimised metallisation technology to boost efficiency, at Intersolar Europe 2012.

Suntech in Europe vice president for sales and marketing, Vedat Gurgeli, said the 255-watt panel is around 5% more powerful than the industry average and offers one of the best price to performance ratios in the market.

"With ongoing innovation, we are targeting to increase the nominal power output of this solar panel to 260 watts in the near future," Gurgeli said.

The 255W polycrystalline module features 0/+5% positive power tolerance and can withstand all weather conditions, including a 3.800 Pascal wind load and 5.400 Pascal snow loads, which the company says is well above IEC standard requirements.

The new module has been certified according to the IEC 61701 standard salt mist corrosion test, and features an anti-reflective hydrophobic layer that reduces surface dust and allows the module to absorb more light.

With regional headquarters in China, Switzerland and the US, Suntech produces solar products for residential, commercial, industrial and utility applications, and has gigawatt-scale manufacturing facilities worldwide, in more than 80 countries.
