Bureau of Energy: Wind Power Grid national standard forthcoming

Reporters recently learned from the Bureau of Energy,  wind power technology will release a national standard  this month. This means that previously this enterprise had its own standards introduced in 2009, and now soon wind power will soon be under a new national standard.

It is understood that this standard is created by the State Electricity Regulatory Commission, jointly drafted by China EPRI and China Long Yuan Electric Group. China Long Yuan Electric Group participated in the standard-setting discussion and told this reporter: "At present, the industry has  enforced a new national standard, because it is needed for these wind fields in order to create a great impact on the industry."

From sources: the new standards involve changes in the transformation of the low voltage riding through and dynamic reactive power active compensation on some of the large wind turbines. Many manufacturers may be able to withstand this change, but small scale manufacturers and wind farm operators will undoubtedly be faced with a huge cost.

The introduction of the above criteria also means that previously proposed grid for wind power needs to have low voltage ride through technology and dynamic reactive power compensation. People from all walks of life debate triggered by this. Large and small wind farms and wind turbine manufacturers must adapt to these new regulations and this project of transformation will start soon.

An insiders told reporters, the renovation project involves the increased cost to unit manufacturers and wind farms, with the installation of low voltage through  technical facilities for each unit meaning an increase in  cost of at least 20 thousand. The new national standard for wind farms must have real-time forecast of wind power capacity, this requirement will give the country an increase of nearly 60 thousand for wind farm's cost.

The China Long Yuan Electric Group  participated in creating the new standard and said that the formulation of this new standard as a starting point is good, and added that the low voltage riding through enables the wind power grid to be more stable, making sure a situation does not occur in which it interferes with any other power grid.

In the interview, the reporter learned that, like Europe and the United States, China's implementation of the new national standard is taking a scientific approach, the technological transformation comes first  and is a good one leading to the subsidy of the developer or manufacturer, and after a certain period of time after the transformation has been completed, discounts can be given to help digest the cost of renovation.
