Wuhan Steel posts significant outcome on energy saving

Wuhan Steel shoulders responsibilities and finishes the energy saving and emission reduction task assigned above the quota during the 11th Five Year.


When compared with 2005, sulfur dioxide emission in 2010 decreases by 11.3% in 2010 chemical oxygen demand is down 23.1% smog and dust emission reduces 3.6%. All surpasses the total volume tasks assigned by the country and provincial government.


The comprehensive energy consumption for producing per tonne of steel for Wuhan Steel is 696 kilogram decreasing 9.5% from the 769 kilogram in 2005 ranking the top of this industry in China.


If counted by that every tonne of standard coal's reduction cuts 2.5 tonnes of sulfur dioxide emission, Wuhan Steel avoids emitting 3.25 million tonnes of sulfur dioxide since 2005.
