Southern MN wind farm signs power agreement

A wind farm being built in southern Minnesota by a French company will provide power to Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency.

EnXco, a subsidiary of Paris-based renewable energy company EdF Energies Nouvelles, is building the 67-turbine farm, slated for completion by the end of 2008.

Under terms of a 20-year agreement, signed Thursday, electricity generated by the 100-megawatt Wapsipinicon wind farm near Austin, Minn. in Mower County, will be sold to the Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency, which provides electricity to 18 nonprofit utilities. Additional terms were not disclosed.
