Maine company passes 200-mark for turbines

A Maine construction company says it now has more than 200 wind turbines either installed or under construction.

Reed & Reed made the announcement as work continues on a 40-turbine project near Lincoln, where the company is erecting its 192nd turbine in Maine. The company also has installed 10 turbines in Massachusetts.

Rollins Wind is a project being developed by First Wind and will produce enough renewable energy for more than 22,600 homes. Jackson Parker, president and CEO of Reed & Reed, says wind power projects are also putting people to work.

Not everyone is happy with the pace of wind power projects in Maine. On Saturday, wind power critics convened in Freeport for a "Mountaintop Industrial Wind Legislative Summit."
