Jamaica Examines Castor, Jatropha as Biodiesel Feedstock

The Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica's Centre of Excellence for Renewable Energy (PCJ's CERE) and the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI) on February 11 signed a research agreement for a small-scale pilot project producing biodiesel from locally grown jatropha and castor, the Jamaica Information Service (JIS) reported February 14. The agreement is worth JM$10.3 million (US$121,396), according to JIS.
