ClearEdge Power fuel cell system up and running in renovated San Diego hotel

In the US, the Lafayette Hotel in San Diego has deployed a ClearEdge Power fuel cell system that will reduce energy costs and lessen its impact on the environment.
The historic Hollywood-era Lafayette Hotel in San Diego has just completed an extensive renovation project, which includes the installation of a 40 kW ClearEdge5 high-temperature PEM fuel cell system from ClearEdge Power.

The fuel cell system is expected to reduce the hotel's annual energy costs by approximately $30 000, while also eliminating 100 tonnes per annum of greenhouse gas emissions.

In addition, the highly efficient and scalable fuel cell system has supported the broader renovation of the landmark hotel, by helping it qualify for substantial tax credits as well as various energy upgrade rebates.

These include a Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP) award from the California Center for Sustainable Energy.

Earlier this year, Oregon-based ClearEdge Power announced a major long-term deal with Güssing Renewable Energy GmbH in Austria, to supply 50 MW worth of continuous onsite power fuel cell systems by 2020.
