Poland’s Energy Regulatory Office (URE) has scheduled the 2026 renewable energy auctions for November 9 and 10, with a budget of about PLN 24.9 billion ($6.34 billion) covering more than 76 TWh of generation.
Solar and onshore wind projects will compete in two capacity brackets, installations up to 1 MW and those above 1 MW. Only new plants may enter, bids are judged on price alone, and developers need an admission certificate issued through the Online Auction Platform.
Solar has dominated previous rounds. In 2025 the regulator awarded about 1.67 GW of PV and 82.7 MW of wind, with photovoltaics accounting for 178 of 181 successful bids and prices between PLN 216.90/MWh and PLN 374.77/MWh across the two brackets. In 2024 solar took 198 of 200 winning bids, against two wind projects totalling 90.8 MW. Participation has stayed modest as developers turn to corporate power purchase agreements and merchant sales instead of government-backed support.
The auctions sit inside a 2022-2027 support framework that originally targeted roughly 9 GW of new solar and 3 GW of onshore wind. Poland added 3.6 GW of solar in 2025, down from 4 GW in 2024, taking cumulative capacity to 24.8 GW on data compiled by Agencja Rynku Energii for the energy ministry. Transmission operator PSE put the total at 25.5 GW at the end of last year, a gap the institute IEO attributes to December connections.
