Scanifly establishes associate program to certify solar pros as drone pilots

Source: Scanifly

Scanifly has launched a Surveyor Associate program to certify solar professionals as capable solar drone pilots. The program occurs monthly with four one-hour sessions. Topics covered will include drone flying techniques, weather and airspace navigation, photography basics, how to build a solar drone program and materials for obtaining your FAA part 107 drone license exam.

This is the first solar industry certificate related to drone flying. To obtain the certificate, attendees must participate in all four sessions, pass Scanifly’s brief exam and pass the FAA Part 107 exam. By attending and completing all four sessions, attendees are also eligible to receive four hours of NABCEP continuing education credits.

Tim Jackson, who heads Scanifly’s customer success department and previously built the drone program for Suncommon, is the main catalyst behind the course and its materials.

“Scanifly Surveyor Associate Program gives a leg up for anyone interested in a jump start to acquire the skills needed to fly a drone for solar surveying and obtaining your FAA 107 license,” said Candice Wyllie, owner of East Coast Cad Consulting. “I recommend it wholeheartedly as the instructor Tim Jackson is like no other with his organized approach to the facets involved. I have taken numerous online courses in different subjects and found Tim’s approach to imparting information superior to any of those. I simply loved the course and highly recommend it.”
