GE Secures New China Wind Deals

Contracts to supply 88 of its 1.5 MW wind turbines to China's HECIC New Energy Co., Ltd, have been announced by GE Energy.


One of China’s leading wind energy developers, HECIC has secured the machines for three new projects in Hebei and Shanxi Provinces, GE says in a statement.


Collectively, the new wind farms will add 132 MW of installed wind capacity and, to date GE says it has committed to supply 895 units of its workhorse wind turbine to China.


Further details were not disclosed.


“The development of wind power is a key economic growth area for China and plays a critical role in achieving our national target to increase to 150 GW of installed wind energy capacity by 2020,” said Dr. Cao Xin, general manager of HECIC New Energy Co., Ltd.


“China is rapidly emerging as one of the world’s largest markets for wind power technology,” added Victor Abate, vice president-Renewables for GE Power & Water.
