Solar Project participants learn about robotics

Students participating in RTHK’s Solar Project greeted a robot dog developed by a mainland start-up on Wednesday, as they continued their five-day trip of Hangzhou to further explore the potential of artificial intelligence.

Some 100 students, led by Director of Broadcasting Angelina Kwan, visited Unitree Robotics – a leading start-up in Hangzhou that specialises in robotics development and production.

The students were given the chance to interact with the company’s robot dog, which is able to do somersaults, hop on two legs, and carry heavy weight on its back.

One of the participants said he was thrilled to see how the robot dog was able to perform sophisticated tricks and movements.

A representative of the company, meanwhile, said the demonstration presents a great opportunity for the youngsters to learn about the latest technology.

The students then paid a visit to Hangzhou Normal University, and exchanged views on areas like artificial intelligence, creative design, as well as innovation and technology.
