China’s Jiangsu Seraphim Solar System Co., Ltd. has inked a solar panel supply agreement with Australian wholesaler and importer Raystech Group.
Seraphim says it will be supplying Raystech with its recently unveiled S3 series half-cut monocrystalline PERC modules, which are targeted towards the home solar market. I couldn’t find info on the S3 on Seraphim’s site (or anywhere else for that matter), but the company’s release states it will be available in up to 370 watts and have an efficiency “exceeding 19.80%”.
50MW is a lot of panels on a lot of rooftops – based on 370 watts, it would work out to around 135,000 modules; enough for approximately 7,500 6.6kW solar systems.
“We are extremely happy to partner with Raystech; this is a step forward for us to strengthen our local distribution network”, said Seraphim President Polaris Li. “Australia is one of the most mature PV markets in the world, and Seraphim entered this market in 2012.”
Seraphim’s ventures into Australia occurred only a year after the company was founded, and that it still has a presence here after around 8 years is encouraging.
Seraphim solar panel reviews here on SolarQuotes from Australian customers with the panels installed have generally been favourable. Seraphim is currently listed on SQ’s trusted solar brands chart as offering economical, but reliable module products.
In other recent news from Seraphim, the company has been relishing its ranking as a Top Performer in PVEL’s 2020 PV Module Reliability Scorecard. A couple of its panels earned a Top Performer nod in the PID resistance category. PID stands for Potential Induced Degradation (PID), which is degradation caused by unwanted electrical currents; a condition exacerbated by hot and humid conditions. According to Seraphim, more than 8GW of its solar panels have been installed in over 40 countries to date. While it has a long way to catch up with solar PV goliaths such as Longi and JinkoSolar, the company is building on production capacity.
In February this year, Seraphim announced the signing of an agreement that will result in the construction of a solar module manufacturing plant in Jiangsu Yixing Economic Development Zone, boasting annual production capacity of 5GW. Seraphim’s production capacity at the end of last year was 5GW. The new factory is a joint venture with Lu’An Solar.
