The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has invited bids for round-the-clock (RTC) supply of 5 GW power from grid-connected renewable energy projects, complemented with coal-fired thermal power, if needed, to ensure at least 80% availability on annual basis. The projects shall be awarded through e-bidding followed by reverse auction.

RE power may include solar, wind, small hydro, or a combination thereof, with or without energy storage system (ESS). The option of selecting the type and mix of RE sources and the usage of ESS shall be with the generator.

The selected developers shall set up renewable power projects on build-own-operate basis anywhere in India, supplying at least 51% of annual energy requirement from RE sources, including energy storage option. The balance may be drawn from existing coal-based thermal energy projects.

SECI shall enter into power purchase agreement with successful RE developers for a period of 25 years. Power procured by SECI from these RE projects has been provisioned to be sold to the different buying utilities of India.

Bidders are required to quote a composite single tariff for renewable energy, complemented with thermal energy.

Capacity offered

RE projects are required to be designed for interconnection with the ISTS substation at voltage level of 220 kV or above. A single developer may bid for any quantity from 500 MW up to whole of 5000 MW. For each project, the minimum size shall be 500 MW and maximum 5 GW.
