LONGi and Tongwei Signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement

On June 4th, 2019, during the SNEC Shanghai PV Exhibition, the two major giants in the domestic PV industry, LONGi and Tongwei, held a strategic signing ceremony, which is another in-depth cooperation following the signing of the long-term purchase agreement for polysilicon in May last year. The signing of the contract will push the cooperation relationship to a new height, and the two companies will have further cooperation in strategic investment and supply chain cooperation.

Zhong Baoshen, Chairman of LONGi Group, Board Chairman Liu Hanyuan and President Zhuo Yujiao of Tongwei Group, Xie Yi, Chairman of Tongwei, Zhou Yicheng, Vice President of Investment, Chen Hong, Senior Vice President of Module Business Unit and Xie Tian, Vice President of Marketing of Silicon Business Unit of LONGi Group, Duan Yong, Chairman of Yongxiang Co., Ltd and other leaders attended the signing ceremony.

Under the joint witness of Zhong Baoshen, Chairman of LONGi Group, and Liu Hanyuan, Chairman of the Board of Tongwei Group, Zhou Yicheng and Xie Yi, the representatives of both parties signed the Strategic Cooperation Agreement on PV Industry between LONGi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd. and Tongwei Co., Ltd.” (hereinafter referred to as the “Agreement”) in a friendly atmosphere.

At the signing ceremony, Zhong Baoshen said: “Tongwei is an excellent enterprise and Like-minded people should work together. They are long-term strategic partners. Industry development results from complementary advantages between enterprises. LONGi will take this opportunity to further reduce costs, enhance industrial competitive advantages and promote clean energy development.”

According to the Agreement signed by the two parties, the two sides have reached a strategic cooperation agreement in strategic investment and supply chain.

Liu Hanyuan also agreed with this. He believed: “as industry develops to a certain mature stage, only strong alliances can create a new situation. LONGi have strong technical research and development strength and excellent quality. In the future, we will jointly create a clean and efficient Green power, build a beautiful home for mankind.”

In terms of strategic investment, Tongwei strategically invested in new 15GW of monocrystalline silicon ingot and slicing projects in Yinchuan, Ningxia of LONGi and held 30% of the project; LONGi also equally invested in 50,000 tons of high-purity monocrystalline project in Baotou of Tongwei. At the same time, the two parties will continue to maintain a close supply relationship and deepen cooperation on high-purity crystalline silicon and monocrystalline silicon wafer.

In addition, the two sides also planned to grow stronger and larger in their respective areas by supporting each other, and further explored the cooperation opportunities in the field of cells and modules.

The strategic cooperation between the two leading PV companies will have a profound impact on both parties and the entire industry, and will achieve “strong alliance, complementary advantages, and win-win cooperation ” in the true sense.

LONGi has established a competitive advantage in the silicon wafer, and Tongwei has a leading advantage in high-purity crystalline silicon. The two sides have strong complementarity in the industrial chain. They have achieved cooperation and improved and integrated the industrial chain, maximizing their respective advantages. Further breakthroughs will be made in the fields of renewable energy development, clean energy manufacturing, international market development, and energy services, which has important significance of promoting the healthy industrial development and the energy transformation development.
