E.ON withdraws from Ferndale wind farm project in Wales

E.ON has pulled out of the 10 megawatt Ferndale wind farm in Wales because of potential noise pollution created by the project.

The wind farm, which received planning permission in 2005, would have to be scaled down to 5 MW to fit in with local noise levels, which would not fit in with E.ON (nyse: EONnews people )'s onshore wind development criteria, E.ON said in a statement.

Danny Shaw, Head of New Business for E.ON, said: 'We certainly didn't take this decision lightly but, as a responsible developer, we simply wouldn't be willing to build a scheme that we thought had the potential to exceed acceptable noise limits.'
