China to subsidize green building with solar power roof

China is now formulating the detailed subsidy standards for the solar power roof program, according to Trading Market.

The government will give a subsidy of 20 yuan per watt for the building PV power generation systems with installed capacity of exceeding 50 kw, according to China's Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.

Solar power roof program is an energy-saving program of installing solar power facilities on roofs of buildings, and lays a solid foundation for popularization of photovoltaic (PV) roofs.

Currently, China-made polysilicon feedstock is lower about 20 percent than international price, and PV module is quoted below US$ 2.4 per watt, said analyst Julia with Britain-based New Energy Finance Ltd.

Amid the global financial crisis, the domestic solar power producers race to seize the market initiative by slashing the price.
