China sends ethanol-powered cars to Brazil

Chinese automaker Jianghuai Automobile Company (JAC) has shipped 500 ethanol-powered cars to Brazil, the first of 620,000 it has contracted to export to the South American country over the next ten years.

The company will send 1,500 more vehicles in January and an additional 2,500 in February. Last August, JAC signed an exclusive distributor agreement with Brazilian dealer SHC.

JAC Motors is among the top ten Chinese carmakers and said it plans to break into the Brazilian market, currently the world's fourth largest, which has long been dominated by U.S. and European automakers.
