REpower Systems secures supply contracts for UK wind projects

REpower Systems has secured five new contracts to supply turbines for onshore wind projects in the UK.

Under the first contract, the company will supply ten 2MW MM92 turbines for RidgeWind's wind farm at Wandylaw in Northumbria.

The second contract will see delivery of eight MM92 turbines for the Yelvertoft wind farm, being developed by AES Wind Generation in Northamptonshire.

Five MM82 turbines with a rated output 2.05MW each will be supplied to FIM Services and Whirlwind Renewables's Wathegar wind farm in Caithness, under the third contract.

In addition, the company will deliver six MM92 turbines for the Blantyre Muir wind farm in South Lanarkshire and four MM92 turbines for Barlockhart Moor wind farm near Glenluce in Dumfries and Galloway.

Both these wind projects are being developed by International Power (GDF SUEZ Group) developments.

REpower Systems CEO Andreas Nauen said that reaching 1GW of signed contracts was a huge achievement for the company.

"REpower UK is enjoying a period of steady growth, having signed contracts totalling 190MW since the end of last year," Nauen said.

"I believe this demonstrates the growing reputation of REpower turbines in the British market, and is a solid indication that the wind sector remains in good health."
