Suzlon Energy wins 20.5 MW order in Britain

Wind turbine maker Suzlon Energy said that its German subsidiary REpower has signed a deal with the British renewable energy company Your Energy to supply ten 2.05 MW turbines for its Sixpenny Wood wind farm project.

This is the first contract REpower has signed with Your Energym, a subsidiary of AES Wind Generation, which in turn is a subsidiary of AES Corporation that operates over 1,800 MW wind capacity around the world.

The company in a statement issued said that REpower will be supplying 10 MM92 turbines with a rated output of 2.05 MW which will generate electricity to power nearly 12,000 homes annually.

Mr Rick Eggleston REpower England MD said that "We are working with AES Wind Generation for the first time. We have already installed a number of wind turbines in that area, so we know that the MM92 machine that we are supplying for Sixpenny Wood is ideal for the local wind conditions.'

The release added that the installation of the wind turbines will start in mid- 2012 and the wind farm is expected to be complete by the end of the year.
