Qinshan nuclear station began to enlarge capacity

The #2 unit of Fangjiashan nuclear project of Qinshan Nuclear Station started the construction on Friday, which marked the officially beginning of the station’s expanding, according to Beijing Times.

Its expansion project, with an investment of 26 billion yuan, is one of the first group of large infrastructure items approved for construction by the State Council in the latter half of last year as a way to combat the global financial meltdown, said Qinshan Nuclear Power Company Limited of China National Nuclear Corporation, the developer, Friday.

The expansion will install two pressurized reactors, and each will have an installed capacity of 1 million kilowatts, according to the report.
