Guthrie/Gamuda in 1.2GW solar JV

SD Guthrie and Gamuda Energy are collaborating to jointly develop, own and operate solar power assets and battery energy storage systems with a combined target capacity of 1.2GW.

The two partners said the partnership aims to capitalise on the rising demand for renewable energy from high-quality offtakers, offering fast-tracked and scalable power to meet the sustainability goals of industrial players and data centres in Malaysia. In the first phase, they will identify the unproductive or under-utilised land assets of SD Guthrie to assess if solar power development is feasible. The partnership will leverage Guthrie’s land bank and Gamuda’s experience and technical expertise in delivering a growing 3GW pipeline of renewable energy projects in the region.
