Hartford, Connecticut-based solar developer Verogy completed a 365-kW rooftop solar energy project at Cinemark North Haven and XD in North Haven. Cinemark will own the system and use the clean energy it produces to power a meaningful portion of its operations.

The 960-module array will produce 434,285 kWh annually.

“Verogy has been an incredible partner throughout this process, operating with exceptional execution from beginning to end,” said Art Justice, Cinemark VP of energy and sustainability. “We are proud to provide our Cinemark North Haven and XD guests with an immersive cinematic experience that is powered by clean, renewable energy, further expanding our portfolio of solar-powered theatres.”

In addition to the North Haven project, Cinemark continues to invest in sustainability initiatives in the communities it serves through in-theatre recycling stations; and energy efficiency measures such as HVAC retrofitting and efficient lighting and the integration of solar energy at more than 20 of its locations across the country.
The company is also contracted with AEP Energy Partners for 40 MW of wind power in Texas.

“We’re excited to announce the completion of this project and are grateful for the opportunity to work with Cinemark to advance the company’s sustainability goals,” said William Herchel, CEO of Verogy. “Not only will the system benefit the environment, Cinemark will also realize significant savings on their monthly utility bills.”
