GAMA Enerji commissions 10MW wind farm in Turkey

GAMA Enerji, a joint venture between General Electric (GE) and GAMA Holding, has completed and commissioned a 10MW Karadag Wind power plant in city of Izmir, Turkey.

The wind farm, approved by the Turkey's Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, uses four 2.5MW turbines supplied by GE.

Annually, the project is expected to offset 80,000t of greenhouse gas emissions and generate electricity to meet the power needs of 59,000 homes in the region.

GE Energy Financial Services Europe managing director Andrew Marsden said that the firm's partnership with GAMA reinforced its commitment to investing in and building its presence in the global renewable energy market.

"We are proud to support our 'ecomagination' programme by assisting Turkey's efforts to diversify its energy sector."
