Nordex wins supply contract to extend wind farm in Norway

Nordex has been awarded the 57.5MW contract for the phase 2 extension of the Midtfjellet wind farm on the island of Stord in Norway.
The German turbine manufacturer is also supplying 21 N90 2.5MW turbines for the first phase of Midtfjellet wind farm, which is being developed by Norwegian Midtfjellet Vindkraft AS (MVAS), owned by Østfold Energi AS, EB Kraftproduksjon, Fitjar Kraftlag SA and Vardar AS. In the second phase, Nordex will supply a mix of turbines, comprising 13 N90 2.5MW and 10 N100 2.5MW machines, to maximize energy yield and bring the wind farm's total capacity up to 110MW.

Civil works are currently in the finishing stages with wind turbine deliveries starting mid July 2012 for phase 1. Phase 2 deliveries will start mid-March 2013. Both agreements include five-year service contracts with an option for a further ten years.

When completed, the project will become one of the largest wind farms in Norway built in recent years in Norway. "Midtfjellet will become the key reference project for our future Norwegian activities," commented Lars Bondo Krogsgaard, Chief Customer Officer of Nordex SE.
