President approves Iran's membership in renewable energies agency

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Sunday ordered the implementation of the law on membership of the Islamic Republic of Iran in International Agency for Renewable Energies, IRNA reported.

Majlis (Parliament) and the Council of Custodians had previously approved the law on membership of the Islamic Republic of Iran in International Agency for Renewable Energies.

According to this law, the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran is permitted to become the member of the International Agency Renewable Energies pay the annual membership fees accordingly.

The agency is in charge of application of all types of renewable energies by considering the national interests and the share of renewable energies in protection of environment by reducing pressure on natural resources and reducing the trend of deforestation, as well as observing the productivity principles.

Renewable energy is applied to all kinds of energies which are obtained from the renewable resources in sustainable form, including bio energy, earth's thermal energy, hydroelectricity, energies obtained from ocean, solar energy and wind energy.
