EdeniQ device boosts ethanol yields in Nebraska

EdeniQ, a biofuel technology provider based in Visalia, concluded agreements to install its third Cellunator device at E Energy Adams, a corn ethanol plant in Adams, Neb., that produces 50 million gallons a year.

The Cellunator is a milling device that reduces the average particle size of corn without creating an excess of fines, or smaller particles, that tend to foul downstream processes.

E Energy Adams, EdeniQ's first commercial customer, has been using two of the company's Cellunators for just over a year to process corn slurry in the production of ethanol. With a third device, the plant will be able to process 100% of its feed.

EdeniQ's website states that the Cellunator, first deployed in the fall of 2009, has been able to deliver at 3% to 4% yield improvement of ethanol in the plants where it's installed and a 40% reduction in enzymes needed to break down starch.

In 2011, EdeniQ will more than double its size by moving from its current headquarters at 2505 N. Shirk Road in Visalia to a 35,000 square-foot building about a mile away. The site will also include a new pilot scale bio-refinery where the company will test its cellulosic technology.
