EDF plans new U.K. wind farm

 France-based EDF has commissioned a new wind farm in the United Kingdom.

The utility's renewable energy arm, Energies Nouvelles, is engaged in the production of electricity and has commissioned the Walkway wind farm, which will have an installed capacity of 14 megawatts.


According to the company, the new wind farm, located in County Durham, will have seven wind turbines, each with a unit capacity of 2 megawatts, supplied by German manufacturer REpower.


Including the Walkway wind farm, EDF Energies Nouvelles has 117 megawatts in gross capacity in service in the United Kingdom. Three additional wind farms with a total of 88 megawatts in gross capacity are currently under construction.
