Trina Storage, FlexGen partner for 371MWh energy storage system in Texas

Energy storage solutions provider Trina Storage has collaborated with FlexGen Power Systems, a battery energy storage solution and energy management software provider, to deliver a 371MWh battery energy storage system in Houston, Texas, US.

The project features Trina Storage’s advanced Elementa 2 solution, which is engineered to enhance energy performance and reliability while reducing operational risks.

FlexGen will contribute system integration services and implement its HybridOS energy management software, streamlining system management and boosting operational efficiency.

Trina Storage’s DC Block technology offers an efficient approach to simplify large-scale installations and expedite deployment. Its seamless integration with the FlexGen HybridOS platform enhances asset optimisation and ensures long-term operational dependability.

Trina Storage North America vice-president Terry Chen said: “This project is a testament to Trina Storage’s ability to provide a fully bankable, integrated energy storage solution that meets the evolving needs of the market.

“As our first grid-scale deployment in North America, this achievement reflects the industry’s confidence in our technology and our commitment to de-risking energy storage investments and supporting the energy transition in the region.”

Developed by SMT Energy, the project is expected to be Trina Storage’s largest grid-scale deployment in North America.

SMT Energy co-founder and managing partner David Spotts said: “This project reflects SMT Energy’s commitment to delivering bankable, high-performance storage solutions by uniting world-class technology partners to meet the growing demands of a rapidly evolving grid.”

In March 2025, FlexGen introduced an important update to the State of Health feature in its HybridOS energy management system.
