Voltalia inks 61-MW solar PPA with Auchan Retail

Voltalia SA (EPA:VLTSA) has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) to supply electricity from 61 MW of solar power to French supermarket chain Auchan Retail.

The PPA will run for 20 yearSs and will cover all of the food retailer’s sites in France.

The French renewable energy company said that it will develop, fund, build and operate new plants to serve the contract.

The dedicated solar parks will be constructed in the south of France. Commissioning is expected to take place between 2021 and 2022, Voltalia said.

Auchan Retail already uses solar power from photovoltaic (PV) installations it built in partnership with Voltalia’s subsidiary Helexia. These arrays are located on Auchan Retail’s buildings and car parks, Voltalia added.
