1839: PV power generation technology emerged
1877: The first selenium solar cell was produced
1941: PV effect was found on silicon
1954: The first solar panel was produced

Up to now, only 60 years have passed since the first industrial application of solar power generation.

In China, the first silicon monocrystal was developed in 1958, which was mainly used in aerospace, military and experimental sites over the next 40 years. In 1998, the Chinese government began to pay attention to the market-oriented application of PV power generation technology; in 2002, China launched the Initiative to Supply Electricity to Towns without Electricity in Western Provinces and Autonomous Regions, driving China’s PV industry to a fast track of development; in 2004, China became one of the fastest growing countries in the global PV industry and market.

Nowadays, China’s photovoltaic industry has become No.1 in the world in terms of market size, cost level, technical capacity, manufacturing capacity, supply chain leadership and so on. 2019 is the 19th anniversary of LONGi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd. LONGi is lucky, because the 19 years happen to the golden years for China’s photovoltaic industry. Now let’s compare the past and present of China’s photovoltaic industry!

In less than 20 years, China’s photovoltaic industry has made amazing achievements. LONGi is fortunate to not only witness and participate in the whole process of China’s photovoltaic industry from scratch, from start to strong, from a follower to a leader, but also stand out among many outstanding companies.

Today, an “electric energy and clean electricity” themed global energy revolution is imminent, more and more regions, countries, cities, enterprises and organizations have published the goal and path to 100% renewable energy. The development of photovoltaic industry has just begun.
