New service and supply deals give Vestas hope

Vestas has signed its largest ever service and maintenance renewal agreement with EDP Renováveis (EDPR).
The deal will see it service more than 1100 turbines totaling 1897MW across 30 wind power plants in the US and Europe for up to seven years. More than 70% of the turbines covered by the EDP agreement are in the US, while the remaining are in Spain, France, Romania, Portugal and Italy.

Meantime, having announced it is to end production of its kilowatt range of turbines, Vestas today announced it has secured two contracts – for as combined capacity of 116MW – for its megawatt-size turbines. The biggest deal will see it supply its 3 MW V90 machines for a 90MW project being developed by Swedish developer O2 Vind for home furnishing giant IKEA. The 30 turbines are due to be delivered in May 2014 with installation completed by January 2015.

The second deal is for eight 2 MW turbines for the 16MW Valcaire wind power project being developed by Eyra Instalaciones y Servicios close to Granada in Spain. It is the first order for Vestas' new V100 2MW machine. The machines are due to be installed and fully commissioned by the end of the year.
