Spring is coming and energy experts are warning that many of the 200,000 Czech households with rooftop solar may be missing out on significant savings due to neglected maintenance.
Energy services provider, ČEZ Prodej reports that proper seasonal preparation can increase electricity generation by nearly 10 per cent. During spring and summer, PV systems generate up to 80 per cent more energy than the rest of the year. But dirt accumulation, wear from winter weather, or even new shadows from growing trees can quietly hamper performance. Timely inspections identify these issues before they lead to equipment failures. Furthermore, formal inspection reports from specialised technicians are increasingly required by insurance companies to process claims related to residential power plants, according to ČEZ Prodej.
Beyond incentivising rooftops, Czechia launched a new agrivoltaics subsidy programme at the end of 2025. These solar installations allow simultaneous electricity generation and continued farming on the same land. Eligible projects include systems placed above orchards, vineyards, hop fields, permanent crops, and now also arable land with labour-intensive vegetables.
